2019 – Presenting 34 Gems of Digital India

The third season of the coveted Gems of Digital India awards was organized on September 13 in New Delhi. The ballroom of The Leela Palace turned into a bowl of shining gems. 34 path breaking initiatives from 16 central ministries and 6 states were felicitated for achieving excellence in their respective domains.

Gems of Digital Appzine Launched by Chief Guest Dr Neeta Verma, DG-NIC

They joined the league of 126 Gems of Digital India discovered by Coeus Age Analysts over the past three years. These 126 Gems of Digital India span across 28 ministries and 22 states.

The award ceremony, supported by MEITY, Digital India and presented by Micro Focus, was attended by 130 senior government technology leaders.

Gems of Digital India 2019 Awards was a momentous event for more reasons than one. The biggest highlight was the launch of Gems of Digital India Appzine by Dr. Neeta Verma, DG-NIC. The Appzine is now available at the Google PlayStore. It is a rare compilation of 126 winners since 2017. The winners’ stories can now be shared on social media at the touch of a button. 

The function was graced by Dr. Neeta Verma, DG, NIC as the Chief Guest/ She shared her precious words of wisdom with the audience emphasizing upon building applications that bring a difference in every citizens’ life. With the use of conversational technologies, specially in vernacular, she emphasized that the governance can be made more effective.

Mr. Jerome Labat, CTO, Micro Focus, presented how digital transformation must be undertaken. Mr. Saurabh Saxena, Country Director, Micro Focus India highlighted how Micro Focus can enable the infrastructure, applications, information and the security layers for enabling businesses and governments transform digitally.

A panel of distinguished speakers that included Dr Ranjna Nagpal, DDG-NIC; Dr Saurabh Gupta, JS-NATGRID-MHA; Prof Harsh Purohit, Dean-WISDOM- Banasthali University; Mr S S Mathur, GM- CRIS; Mr Ashok Kaul, Scientist F-NIC; and Mr Amit Naithani, Director –  Micro Focus, discussed multiple perspectives related to Digital India’s next leap forward.

And the cherry on the cake was the celebrations of the excellence achieved by 34 path breaking digital initiatives who received the coveted Gems of Digital India 2019 Awards.
